When I'm asked what the most important thing an artist can do for themselves is, I always say the same thing: Look at where you've been. Don’t worry over where you think you need to be, or what you think you have to be doing. Just look at how far you’ve come. ❤
I received a comic commission in May 2011 of 16 pages. I finished 10 pages, and then life got unreasonably busy and I had to postpone the commission.
Fastforward to August 2012. I FINALLY got back to it…but my style had developed so dramatically…It's a little scary.
And it’s not a ‘bad art’ versus ‘good art’ thing. The 2011 art isn’t ‘bad’, it's just a really cute style. But the 2012 work…wow. I just hope my inking abilities have evolved just as much…
